Still in florence, we will leave tomorrow for Newport. Florence is so quaint and friendly that you could spend lots of time here. It is also perfect to paint lots of lovely buildings. We went biking into Old town and I took some more photos to work off when I get home..it was a great day, except for the wind.

The above pencil sketch is of the forgotten wharfs in Florence, oregon. From the late 1890's the ferry's carried people from one side of the river to the other, in the early 1936 the Siuslaw draw Bridge was opened and is one of 5 major bridges constructed in the 30's.
Although the wharfs are decaying and stand forlornly at the river's edge, they are beautiful. This small town is delightful and quaint, it has lots of interesting and quality  shops as well as restaurants.
